Thanksgiving—it’s a day for us to stop and reflect. And it’s a holiday that reminds us not to lose sight of what’s truly important…to think about the previous year’s experiences and accomplishments, and to remember those who helped us meet and achieve them. It’s a time to give Thanks!
Saying “Thank You” in a memorable way can help YOU make a huge and lasting impression. This fact should not be overlooked in the work place or during your job search. Just think of all the people who deserve your thanks: Colleagues, assistants, advisors, mentors, referring friends and associates. In today’s economy, giving a gift of thanks may seem a bit extravagant. However, a targeted email to a small group of colleagues isalways appreciated and certainly a handwritten note to those closest and most valued is an incredibly meaningful gesture.
Does the recipient of your “Thank You” have a special interest? Then take some time to select a card with a unique illustration, photograph or design that speaks to their personal passion or pursuit. Jot down a few of the things that you value most about the person you are thanking. And express your warmest sentiments for the season. Also, if you are a recipient of a gift or thank you from vendors, colleagues or anyone in your network, always acknowledge the gift or thank you.
Remember, what comes around goes around. Take the time and courtesy to send a heartfelt expression of appreciation and you will, in some special way, be remembered and rewarded.
